EXTO homestay :: homestays by the veterans

KERALA EX – SERVICEMEN WELFARE ASSOCIATION (KEXWA ), an organization registered under the Charitable Society Act, has been engaged in a number of welfare activities for over two decades, by providing resettlement / re-employment opportunities to help the Ex – service men (Veterans) released after their initial period of engagement and are still young and productive. In addition, another field of activity of KEXWA is running an old age home called SAINIK ASHRAM providing exclusive shelter and food, free of coast to 24-30 Second World War veterans who are poor and do not get any pension

KEXWA also runs a retirement home called SAINK VIHAR, a complex containing four types of independent twin villas to accommodate 36 Ex Service families. This facility is available to those Ex-Servicemen couples who are above 65 years of age. It is a contributory Housing Scheme and is located adjacent to SANIK ASHRAM in one acre plus picturesque plot.

The latest venture in this connection is formation of an agency called EX SERVICEMEN TOURISM DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION (EXTO) , with the aim of getting and bring the Home stay facilities available with the Ex Service community in Kerala, at all important tourist destinations under EXTO. This will help to provide a single window booking facility to the tourists visiting the state and like to feel the local gusto. This system is very popular with a section of tourists who want to experience the culture of the local people by staying with them and experiencing their overall way of life. This will also make their stay more cost effective / economical.
